The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is preparing to provide financial aid to the members of the national team most affected by the subsequent typhoons.

The PSC coordinated with the National Sports Associations (NSAs) to identify athletes who were adversely affected. The sports agency received reports from athletes and coaches, now 57 years old from 9 sports, evacuating or losing their homes due to torrential rains and flash floods in Metro Manila and nearby areas.

The president of the PSC, William Ramírez, assured that they are monitoring the members of the Philippine national team devastated by the typhoon and are accelerating the process of releasing financial assistance.

“It may not be substantial, but we will do everything we can to help them,” said the sporting chief.

“We will implement it as soon as possible. We are awaiting the final report of the NSA affairs so that we can finalize everything,” added PSC Chief Executive Officer Atty. Guillermo Iroy Jr.

Most of the affected national athletes and coaches are from the Philippine Dragonboat Canoe-Kayak Federation that resides near the floodways in Rizal.
