Prediction of the 5 NBA Christmas Day games for 2020-21
It is now officially official. The NBA and the NBA Players Association voted Thursday night to approve a Dec. 22 start for the 2020-21 season. The new campaign will include 72 games and hopefully include the return of fans in arenas (to be decided regionally).
Although the details still need to be worked out and while some players may worry that starting the season in December might seem a bit premature, as a basketball I can’t help but be excited for the return of Christmas basketball (it was in doubt for a while). It has become a staple in the holiday season and will be again in 2020.
That excitement got me thinking: what kind of confrontations could await us on Christmas Day? The Los Angeles Lakers will certainly have a presence and I would hope the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers (teams that have played continuously over Christmas) are also involved.
Here are five of the best matchups the NBA could put together for many to come together to watch on Christmas Day.
