ANGELES CITY – Is there more to the sprained ankle that TnT Tropang Giga gunner Roger Pogoy suffered than meets the eye?
The 28-year-old Cebuano escort posted on his Instagram account a short clip showing Gelo Alolino de San Miguel at Pogoy’s landing site, causing the former Rookie of the Year to fall and twist his ankle.
Alolino was called for an unsportsmanlike foul at the 3:33 mark in the third quarter and the Beermen trailed 64-76.
However, TnT coach Bong Ravena pointed out after Tropang Giga’s 107-88 win game that he does not believe the move was intentional by Alolino.
“He (Pogoy) stepped on his foot inadvertently when he fired,” Ravena said.

But active consultant Mark Dickel obviously didn’t like what happened when he faced veteran San Miguel guard Chris Ross in a heated exchange. Both were later sanctioned for technical fouls.
After shaking off his initial sprain, Pogoy still managed to play, but would twist his ankle again just seconds later.
“The second is just himself. He took the wrong step, ”Ravena said.
Pogoy was permanently substituted and never returned to the game. His left ankle was frozen as he watched the rest of the game on the bench.
The former Rookie of the Year, who had a career-high during the season restart last week, finished with 15 points (6-of-12 from the field) and had four rebounds.
He walked on his own as the rest of Tropang Giga made their way to the dugout after the game.
Pogoy has had similar cases of sprained ankle in the past, but Ravena hopes this is not serious.
“Hopefully it’s not a severe sprain,” said the TnT coach, hoping the two days off will help Pogoy recover from the injury. Tropang Giga will face the undefeated Phoenix Super LPG next Monday.
Leaving Pogoy due to injury would be a huge blow to Tropang Giga, who previously lost rookie guard Kib Montalbo also to injury (plantar fasciitis).
Following the victory, TnT regained the lead alone with a 3-0 record.
