After a thorough investigation, the Philippine National Police of the city of Sorsogon has concluded that the former head coach of Santo Tomas University, Aldin Ayo, did not violate any protocol established by the Interagency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases.
Thus, Ayo has been exonerated of any criminal and administrative responsibility derived from the controversial “Bicol bubble” indicated in the memorandum of September 23, 2020.
The report was also certified by none other than Sorsogon City Governor Chiz Escudero on September 28.
In the memo obtained by the Tiebreaker Times, the investigative report found and recommended the following.
First, the evidence clearly showed that Ayo’s guests stayed at her residence and received agricultural training at her pig farm and at Brgy. Capuy, Western District, Sorsogon City.
In addition, all the actions carried out by Ayo, from transportation to the daily activities of the members of the Growing Tigers, have been carried out in accordance with the protocols and health guidelines established by the IATF.
With regard to training, the investigation concluded that no formal training took place within Ayo’s home and there were no prohibited basketball activities performed by his guests outside of his residence and within the jurisdiction of Sorsogon province.
According to the incident report, Ayo did not violate any health protocol in accordance with EID-IATF guidelines and local executive order in Sorsogon province during the aforementioned person’s arrival and stay in Sorsogon city.
On September 4, Ayo resigned from his position as UST head coach. Five days later, the decorated head coach was suspended indefinitely by the UAAP.
