Phoenix names Topex Robinson as full-time head coach

SMART CLARK GIGA CITY – No more “interim” words on Topex Robinson’s title as Phoenix coach.

The Fuel Masters formally elevated Robinson as the team’s new head coach in their ongoing campaign in the PBA Philippine Cup.

“The Phoenix Super LPG Fule Masters is pleased to announce that coach Topex Robinson will be permanently retained as the team’s head coach effective November 1, 2020,” Phoenix management said in a statement.

Robinson was named on an interim basis after taking over as coach of Louie Alas just weeks before bubble season.

So far, all is well for the Fuel Masters midway through their knockout round campaign, with a score of 4-3 (win-loss) for sixth in the mad dash for quarter-final spots.

Phoenix also welcomed the return of key player Calvin Abueva to its group after a 16-month suspension, and hopes that great guard Alex Mallari will participate in his upcoming games after recovering from a hamstring injury.

The management expressed their complete confidence in Robinson’s training abilities.

“We look forward to accomplishing more with him as he continues to develop the team’s potential, while establishing a franchise with a winning culture,” reads part of the Phoenix statement.
