The CODE initiative demonstrates active case-detection strategies to prevent and eliminate community transmission clusters of the virus.

The “Mask Para sa Masa” campaign, on the other hand, aims to provide poor and vulnerable families with free face masks as a way to protect them from Covid-19.

The Mayor of Quezon City, Joy Belmonte, expressed her gratitude to the National Government for choosing her city to host the launch of the campaign.

He also shared the city’s best prevention practices, which involve the proactive implementation of 48 special concern closures that led to the discovery of 1,056 confirmed cases, for contact tracing and treatment.

Belmonte also highlighted the city’s highest recovery rate of 96 percent as of August 27, 2020.

Duque underscored the role of local government units (LGUs) in defeating Covid-19, noting that it is just as important as that of the national government.

“We recognize the value of our local communities and individual families in winning our fight against Covid-19. Remember that the fight does not start in hospitals. It begins with prevention, in our homes, communities and barangays, ”he explained.

He reminded LGUs that they must vigorously implement the campaign “BIDA Solusyon:
