MANILA – The Philippines may begin inoculating its citizens with the COVID-19 vaccine around March or April next year, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said on Monday.
“We have done a scenario analysis under the leadership of Sec. (Carlito Jr) Galvez and I think the best scenario would be around the end of the first quarter of 2021 or around the beginning of the second quarter of next year,” he said. told ANC Headstart when asked when inoculation can begin.
“Many factors will have to be taken into consideration in order to more definitively set schedules for the actual distribution, deployment and inoculation of our people within our priority list,” he said.
Duque said the government is looking to build a portfolio of different vaccines depending on the availability and evaluation of a panel of experts.
He also vowed to be one of the first to get the vaccine to encourage the public to get vaccinated too.
