On Tuesday it turned into a tropical depression, moving slowly to the northwest, and is seen curving to the left towards the main island of Luzon.
It is expected to make landfall in the northern province of Samar around 8 am on May 14, Thursday, as it further develops into a severe tropical storm likely to strike the eastern provinces of Samar, Sorsoson, Albay and Camarines Sur. in the next 48 hours.
Local disaster management councils have declared their readiness as the storm threatens to hit towns and cities in eastern Philippines.
The weather pattern is rare during the Philippine summer peak when temperatures in certain provinces range from 45 degrees to 49 degrees C.
