The joy of the Filipinos was short-lived when they realized that the limited edition of a fast food chain Godiva drinks were only available in the Land of the Rising Sun and not in the Philippines.
A food-oriented magazine on its website reported that McDonald’s Japan has launched dessert drinks in collaboration with the well-known Belgian chocolatier through McCafé by Barista.
It is a sub-brand in which select branches of the food chain offer a special menu of desserts and cafe-style dessert drinks.
A food magazine reported Wednesday on the launch of the Godiva Chocolate Espresso Frappe and the Godiva Chocolate Espresso Frappe and Macaron, which is available for a limited period.
The Espresso Frappe was described as “an ice blended drink that is made with milk, cocoa powder, and an espresso-infused dark chocolate sauce made from roasted cocoa bean mass.”
Meanwhile, the Espresso Frappe and Macaron were described as “the same drink, but with the addition of a vanilla cream macaroon resting on top of the whipped cream swirl.”
The food magazine also managed to share the prices of the drinks in Philippine peso but clarified that it is not available in the country.
When the report reached the local social media community, Filipinos were quick to tag their Facebook friends about the limited edition drinks.
However, some noted that its availability is only in Japan for now.
“I thought there was one here in the Philippines, just in Japan,” a Facebook user commented to the shared report.
“Sa Japan lang shovel,” wrote another user online in response to another Facebook user with a doll emoji.
“Kabado (na naman) ako dito haha baka sobrang tamis (na naman) but ‘di sa Pinas’ yan,” commented a different Facebook user with laughing and eyeroll emojis.
Godiva has been named as “the 10 best chocolatiers in the world” by National Geographic. He highlighted his “instantly recognizable gold chocolate boxes” on the market and the fact that he was “rewarded in a supplier appointment to the Court of Belgium” due to his excellence.
Business Insider also ranks it as the “best box of Belgian gourmet chocolate” and said its chocolates “are among the best we’ve ever had.”
“(Jean) Neuhaus uses non-GMO ingredients to make their high-end chocolates, and this 12-piece box includes some of the best dark chocolates the chocolatier has to offer. The box is full of chocolates, ganaches, candies and more, so there is something for everyone, ”he said.
Godiva is a nearly decades-long Belgian chocolate company known for creating 30 to 40 new recipes each year and 11 new seasonal collections.
Some of their famous gourmet chocolates include truffles, pralines or filled chocolate bonbons and delicious chocolate dipped strawberries, among others.
