MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines has extended its travel ban to 19 more countries to prevent transmission of the new COVID-19 strain, Malacañang said Tuesday.
In a statement, presidential spokesman Harry Roque said that this will go into effect from Wednesday, December 30 through January 15.
Roque said that this request covers the following countries:
- Denmark
- Ireland
- Japan
- Australia
- Israel
- The Netherlands
- Hong Kong SAR
- Switzerland
- France
- Germany
- Iceland
- Italy
- Lebanon
- Singapore
- Sweden
- South Korea
- South Africa
- Canada
- Spain
President Rodrigo Duterte has also extended the temporary suspension of flights and the entry ban to all travelers from the United Kingdom until January 15, Roque said.
Filipino citizens from the aforementioned countries are exempt from the travel ban.
“However, they will be required to undergo an absolute 14-day quarantine period at the facility, despite a negative RT-PCR test result,” Roque said.
