Filipino tennis prodigy Alex Eala added to her growing list of accomplishments, winning her first International Tennis Federation (ITF) professional women’s title at the Rafael Nadal Academy World Tennis Tour on Sunday (Manila time). ).

Eala, 15, defeated local Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers in the finals, 5-7, 6-1 and 6-2, played at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca, Spain.

Despite facing an opponent 13 years her senior, Eala held her ground, especially in the last two sets where she dominated.

Cavalle-Reimers pulled the rug off the Filipino in the opening frame, revisiting Eala’s 5-4 lead, to grab an early-game cushion.

However, in the next two sets, Eala would not give up momentum as she got her rhythm on the road to revolutionary victory.

The victory continued for Eala with a solid career on the tennis circuit.

He won the Australian youth doubles title in January last year and then reached the semi-finals of the French Open youth tournament in late 2020.

Along the way, he saw his world ranking rise steadily.

Eala is a Rafa Nadal Academy Scholar and is the ITF’s No. 3 Junior Player and is currently ranked 1180 in the world.
