Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 17) – The Philippine government has finally submitted the required severance agreement to COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers Pfizer and AstraZeneca. The absence of a severance fund delayed the delivery of 117,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines through the COVAX facility run by the World Health Organization.

Vaccine Czar Carlito Gálvez Jr. said Tuesday that the national government completed all requirements at the COVAX facility and submitted its request for an additional supply of 2.3 million Pfizer vaccines. He said they are awaiting final approval from COVAX and the two manufacturers.

Government officials, citing conversations with COVAX, previously announced that the indicative arrival date for Pfizer vaccines would be mid-February. But so far, there is still no definitive date when the first batch of coronavirus vaccines will arrive in the country.

Test czar Vince Dizon said that all vaccine manufacturers require an indemnity fund, which means that companies will get rid of lawsuits and that the national government will take responsibility for possible adverse side effects caused. by inoculation.

The government has allocated 500 million pesos for the compensation fund. It will be used to compensate people who will develop serious side effects from the COVID-19 vaccine.
