MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines recorded 1,721 new coronavirus (COVID-19) infections on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 461,505.
In its 4 p.m. case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) documented 23,341 active cases, which is 5.1 percent of the country’s total COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, 10 more people died of severe respiratory illnesses, raising the death toll from COVID-19 in the country to 8,957.
Additionally, 82 more people recovered from the coronavirus disease, bringing the total COVID-19 survivor count to 429,207.
The city of Davao topped the list of cities and municipalities with the highest number of new cases of coronavirus disease. The city recorded 151 new infections on Monday.
This was followed by Quezon City with 142 new COVID-19 cases, Rizal with 85, Laguna with 81, and Manila with 77. [ac]
