PH registers 1,761 new cases of COVID-19 and the total is close to 377,000

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 28) – The Health Department announced 1,761 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the country’s account to 376,935.

The data showed that of the national count, 39,940 or 10.6 percent are currently ill patients. The DOH said 83.3 percent of these active cases experience mild symptoms, 10.9 percent have no symptoms, 2.1 percent are severe cases, and 3.7 percent are in critical condition.

With 85 new patients, Quezon City had the largest increase in infections, the report showed. It is followed by Rizal with 74, Caloocan City with 73, Davao City with 70, Laguna with 69.

Another 740 patients were also healed of the infection, bringing recoveries to 329,848. However, 33 more died, bringing the total number of deaths from COVID-19 to 7,147.

The DOH clarified that Thursday’s bulletin excludes the most recent data from nine testing labs that did not submit their reports on time, out of 140 nationwide.

He added that six duplicates were removed from the total case count as part of the data cleansing process.

To date, more than 4.4 million people in the country have been tested for COVID-19 since the pandemic began, according to the department’s COVID-19 tracker.
