The Department of Health recorded 1,314 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the country on Tuesday, the Department of Health (DoH) said Tuesday.
The figure has increased the total number of infections to 462,815 since the pandemic began earlier this year, as the death toll rose to 9,000.
Of the 24,375 active cases recorded, 91.4 percent are mild, asymptomatic, or moderate, while 5.7 percent are critical and 2.9 percent of patients experience severe symptoms.
Quezon City had the highest number of new cases with 93, followed by Rizal with 89, Benguet, 78, Bulacan, 61 and Davao City, 60.
The survivor count is 429,419, or 92.8 percent of the total, including 247 new recoveries. Sixty-six more people died, bringing the death toll to 9,021.
The last number of deaths included those who were previously labeled as recovered, but were counted among the dead after final validation.
Of the 166 of the 176 labs that submitted 21,223 samples on Dec. 21, 1,044 were found to be infected with a positivity rate of 4.9 percent.
Of the 77.4 million affected by covid-19 worldwide, 1,703 million have died, according to Johns Hopkins University.
