PH records 1,885 new Covid cases on Christmas Day – The Manila Times

There are 1,885 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) reported on Friday, the Department of Health (DoH) said.

The latest figure brings the total to 467,601, the DoH said.

Of the total cases, 27,748 or 5.9 percent are “active.”

Friday’s number is the second-highest for December, behind the 2,122 cases that were reported on the 18th.

Of the 27,748 active cases, 81.7 percent are mild and 10.4 percent are asymptomatic. About 4.9 percent are in critical condition, while 2.6 percent are serious.

The total number of recoveries is 430,791 or 92.1 percent of all cases, including 307 new survivors.

Seven new patients have succumbed to the disease, bringing the figure to 9,062 or 1.94 percent of all cases.

Fifteen of the 176 testing labs did not submit data to the Department of Health’s Covid-19 Data Warehouse System.

The Philippines ranks second in Southeast Asia in the number of new coronavirus infections, behind Indonesia, which has 692,838 cases, according to the Johns Hopkins University Covid-19 case tracker.

Global infections number 79.3 million, with a death toll of 1.7 million.
