The Philippines registered 1,849 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the country, bringing the total number of infections to 521,413, according to the Department of Health (DoH).

The DoH said it no longer identified the top five areas with the highest number of cases due to its ongoing review of its newsletter format.

“While we work to ensure that we receive all data sent by laboratories and disease reporting units in real time, inevitably operational problems are experienced that cause delays in reports that impact the total number indicated in the daily bulletin,” said the undersecretary of Health María Rosario Vergeire.

The DoH spokesperson said granular information on response and epidemic curves based on date of onset of symptoms is available on the DoH website and its weekly situation reports.

Of the 35,048 active cases, almost 95 percent are mild, moderate, and asymptomatic, while the rest are critical and severe.

There are currently a total of 475,765 recoveries and 10,600 deaths.
