Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 4) – The country, for the first time in a month, recorded fewer than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases, with 934 more infections on Friday, the Health Department said.

The last time the country recorded fewer than 1,000 cases was on November 4, but the department noted that data from 11 COVID-19 labs was not added to the tally as they were not yet able to submit their reports.

The agency’s online case bulletin showed the total count reached 436,345 with 6.5% or 28,379 active or currently sick cases. Of these active cases, at least 85.4% have mild symptoms, 6.9% have no symptoms, 4.9% are in critical condition, 2.5% are severe cases, and 0.28% they are in moderate condition.

Quezon City topped the areas with the most new cases after 75 more residents contracted the disease. It was followed by the province of Laguna with 59 more infections, the city of Baguio with 34, the city of Bulacan with 34 and the city of Davao with 34.

The death toll also rose to 8,509, or about 1.95% of the total, and 63 more succumbed to the disease. Meanwhile, the number of recovered patients also rose to 399,457 or 91.5% of the count, with 148 more surviving.

The department mentioned that it removed two duplicate recoveries from the count. He also corrected his previous report in which 14 listed survivors turned out to be deaths after validation.
