Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 7) The country’s COVID-19 case count is approaching 330,000, after the Health Department reported 2,825 new infections on Wednesday.
The latest report showed that the Philippines now has 329,673 detected cases, of which 49,989 are active cases or currently ill patients.
According to DOH, Metro Manila registered 1,031 newly infected residents, while Cavite had 243, Batangas had 238, Bulacan had 173, and Rizal had 159.
The department also confirmed 437 more recoveries, for a total of 273,723. This means that 83 percent of those who have been infected have already recovered from the disease.
However, 60 new deaths were recorded, bringing the death toll to 5,925. Of these, 26 took place in October, 20 in September, and 14 in July and August.
The DOH said 12 labs were unable to submit their case reports on time and are not yet included in the latest count.
He added that 21 duplicates were removed from the overall count, and 14 cases previously reported as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
