Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 10) – More than 445,000 people in the country have been affected by the coronavirus disease since the pandemic began, according to the latest report from the Department of Health.
The national case count jumped to 445,540 on Thursday after the DOH recorded 1,383 more infections. However, he added that nine testing labs did not submit results on time and they were not yet included in the updated count.
The DOH said the largest increase in cases was recorded in Quezon City with 83, followed by Laguna with 75, Manila City with 68, Bulacan with 65 and Davao City with 61.
It also announced 133 new survivors of COVID-19, bringing the recovery count to 409,058. Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 8,701 with 24 new deaths.
This means that of the total infected nationwide, 27,781 or 6.2 percent are currently sick patients.
After final validation, DOH said it reclassified 11 cases previously labeled as recoveries as deaths and removed seven duplicates from the overall count.
