PCOO Identifies Person Behind Re-Sharing ‘Spam’ Post on ABS-CBN

MANILA, Philippines – The Office of Presidential Communications Operations (PCOO) on Monday deemed it “unnecessary” to investigate the possibility of re-sharing an “unauthorized” social media post on the ABS shutdown issue- CBN after identifying the person responsible for the action.

In a statement, PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar said the responsible person will be asked to explain before the agency takes appropriate action.

“By identifying the person responsible for uploading and submitting the controversial Facebook post, our office considers an investigation into the matter unnecessary,” Andanar said.

“A memo is scheduled to be sent within the day asking the individual for an explanation, after which the PCOO will take appropriate action,” he added.

The PCOO has limits cross-posting of content on their social media pages.

In a Department order, Andanar said PCOO agencies should limit the posts to briefings by President Rodrigo Duterte, presidential spokesman Harry Roque, news programs, among others.

The policy change was driven by a Facebook post now removed by the National Task Force to End the Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) that accused ABS-CBN of franchise violations. This publication was shared by PCOO’s official Facebook page.

Andanar rejected the publication, saying it was done without the “usual investigation process.”

ABS-CBN went off the air after the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) ordered it to stop your broadcast operations due to its stalled franchise renewal in Congress.
