PHOENIX Super LPG has earned two wins while awaiting the reinstatement of Calvin Abueva in the league.
The Fuel Masters scored their second win in as many attempts after defeating NorthPort, 110-105, on Thursday at the University of Angeles Foundation Sports and Cultural Center.
The victory came on the day that the Board of Games and Amusement recommended the reinstatement of Abueva’s license as a professional basketball player after completing a three-day seminar on the code of ethics for professional athletes.
Phoenix Super LPG coach Topex Robinson, however, prefers that his team not get ahead of themselves while waiting for Abueva.
“Everyone is waiting for Calvin to return. We are excited for him. But what’s in front of us is just us, ”Robinson said. “Not until we see ‘The Beast’ enter our dugout, that’s the only time we’re going to have it. As long as he’s not here, we’ll keep racing, ”Robinson said.

So far, Robinson is happy that all of his players contributed, as he brought up the unsung heroes who stepped forward in victory.
“Calvin is not an excuse for us not to compete. Obviously, it’s always nice to have a Calvin Abueva on your team, but this isn’t just about Calvin. It’s not about Matt (Wright). It’s about everyone. “
“I love seeing Dave Marcelo hit all three, Jay-R Reyes hit those shots, Jansen Rios is solid at that last end and that’s what we celebrate. A man is only a part of the whole, ”Robinson said.
