ANGELES CITY – NorthPort finally broke the PBA bubble’s win column, knocking Terrafirma back, 107-96, on Saturday at the Angeles University Foundation gym.
The Batang Pier got 23 points from Christian Standhardinger and 18 from Kelly Nabong to make up for the absence of injured big man Sean Anthony.
The team climbed to 1-4 in the standings as they dealt Dyip without coach Johnedel Cardel a fourth straight loss.
Cardel is out with a stomach flu while Deputy Principal Art Dela Cruz made the decisions for Terrafirma.
“This will be a turning point for the team,” NorthPort coach Pido Jarencio said later.
Christian Standhardinger is recovering from his struggles and receives enough support from Kelly Nabong and company.

NorthPort also received significant contributions from rookie Renzo Subido, who scored all 12 of his points in the fourth quarter, including 3 of 7 from center.

Right away, the former Santo Tomás University stalwart instigated a 12-4 run to increase his lead to 101-90, with 2:11 left.
Subido had all his points during that stretch, capped by consecutive 3s, while Nabong also joined the frey in scoring the last of his four 3s for the game.
“The kids really want to win. They don’t want to go 0-5,” added Jarencio. “Many stepped up like Kelly (Nabong), Renz Subido, that’s good. This is a spectacular game for us.”
