The games were postponed last Friday as the league awaited the government’s release of new health protocols on the Covid-19 pandemic.

The government’s recommendation to postpone the games was announced shortly after a referee and a Blackwater Elite player returned false positive results on their mandatory swab tests. Both were negative in the confirmatory test and the antigen test.

Twelve teams are competing this season, which is now heading into its third week since its restart on October 11.

“We would like to reiterate that the PBA bubble has not been broken, but we must always strengthen our protocols in consultation with the IATF (Inter-Institutional Working Group for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases) and NTF (National Covid-19 Working Group). to guarantee the safety of all in the bubble, ”reads part of the league statement delivered to the media on Saturday afternoon.

The PBA said it has implemented additional security measures, including a separate temporary quarantine facility within the Clark Free Port Zone in coordination with Clark Development Corp.

“These additional protocols from health experts are implemented to ensure the integrity of the bubble,” said the PBA.

The games postponed last Friday were between the five-time defending champions San Miguel Beermen and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Gin Kings (main game), and the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok and Blackwater Elite.

Four game dates from Friday to Monday will be rescheduled for another date. The teams were allowed to return to training on Sunday.
