Ray Parks became the second player to break the 40-point barrier this season for TNT to help Tropang Giga beat Terrafima, 112-101, in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup on Tuesday at the University Foundation gym. of Angeles in Pampanga.
Parks scored on a series of layups, jump shots and 3s to finish with a career-high 40 points on 13 of 17 shots from the field. He also hit seven of nine 3-pointers and added 10 rebounds, five dimes, a steal and a block as good measure to deliver his best game in a TNT uniform yet.
Tropang Giga, now up 2-0 in the standings, also drew a 20-point, 15-rebound double-double from Troy Rosario. Castro, the team’s hero in the clutch in the season opener, added 13 and four assists, while Roger Pogoy cooled off his 45-point blast to finish with 11 points on 4-of-15 shooting.
TNT was never behind the entire game and walked away in the second quarter, when it used an 11-0 flurry to turn a small 33-29 lead into a 44-29 lead. Parks, who shot 12 of his points in that quarter, continued his attack after that to help his team build a 20-point lead for their biggest lead in the game.
CJ Pérez scored 30 points on 9 of 23 shots for the Dyip. Glenn Khobuntin and Rashawn MCarthy added 16 and 14 each in the loss.
