Pantone color of the year revealed

Going into December, annually, Pantone reveals the color of the year. However, the brand has announced two for 2020: Ultimate Gray and Illuminating. Citing that these two represent union and describing how this election is intended to connect with “deeper feelings of consideration with the optimistic promise of a sunny day,” a press release reads.

This yes, was unprecedented due to a series of uncontrollable circumstances and arguably most people are looking for a better year to come. Yellow represents a jolt or spark and gray symbolizes composure and stillness. While fashion details the choice as, “really weird”, this selection apparently aims to bring a sense of happiness in a period of time filled with constant confusion.

“The Pantone color of the year reflects what is happening in our global culture, expressing what people are looking for that color can hope to respond to.” Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, exclaimed in a public statement. “As society continues to recognize color as a critical form of communication and a way to symbolize thoughts and ideas, many designers and brands are embracing the language of color to participate and connect.”
