MANILA – The interagency task force leading the country’s pandemic response has subjected most of Isabela province to a stricter lockdown due to an increase in COVID-19 infections, Malacañang said Tuesday.
The province of Isabela, except the city of Santiago, will be under general community quarantine (GCQ) or the third strictest of 4 levels of lockdown until December 31, said presidential spokesman Harry Roque.
This is based on the request of the local Isabela government and the attack rate of the virus, he told reporters.
The province was previously under modified GCQ, the least stringent of the lockdown levels.
Metro Manila and 7 other areas are under GCQ until the end of the year. Only certain companies can operate at full capacity in the GCQ areas.
The Philippines has tallied around 450,000 coronavirus infections, as of Monday. The first wave of infections that has not stopped has prevented the economy from fully reopening.
