LADIES Professional Golf Association (LPGA) rookie Bianca Pagdanganan of the Philippines fell short in her quest to win her debut LPGA Tour title, placing third solo in the LPGA Drive On Championship on Monday (time to Manila) in Greensboro, Georgia.
In second place entering the final round of the tournament, the 22-year-old Pagdanganan finished the fourth round strong with consecutive birdies on holes 17 and 18 to score 70 and bring his total to 14 under 274. But it was just good. for third place at the end.
However, it was his best finish to date in six LPGA Tour starts.
The winner of the tournament on the Great Waters Course was American Ally McDonald, who posted a total of 272 16 under par. It was his first touring title.
In second place was McDonald’s compatriot Danielle Kang, with 273 out of 15 minors.
Ms. Pagdanganan’s performance at the LPGA Drive On Championship was an extension of the strong track record she has had in her first year as a professional.
Earlier this month, she booked a spot at the US Women’s Open in December after finishing in the top 10 of the KPMG PGA Women’s Championship in Pennsylvania.
In his latest effort, Pagdanganan, the Philippines gold medalist at last year’s Southeast Asian Games, pocketed $ 83,557 (or P4 million).
Rounding out the top five in the LPGA Drive On Championship were Mina Harigae of the United States and Carlota Ciganda of Spain with identical 13 under 275. – Michael Angelo S. Murillo
