MANILA, Philippines – Moderate to heavy rains will occasionally be experienced in the Bicol and Quezon region, including the Polillo Islands, due to the end of a frontal system, the state meteorological office said on Sunday.
In its noon weather advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said scattered light to moderate rains may prevail in Metro Manila, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Visayas regions and Mindanao, Aurora, Nueva. Ecija, Bulacan and the rest of Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon).
Pagasa warned of possible flash floods and landslides during periods of heavy or prolonged rains.
This can happen in areas prone to these hazards or in locations that received significant amounts of rain in recent days or weeks.
The public and local government units’ disaster risk reduction and management offices were advised to monitor Pagasa’s weather updates.
Pagasa’s regional services divisions will issue local thunderstorm or rain warnings and heavy rain warnings.
The Hydrometeorology Division and the River Basin Flood Alert and Forecast Centers will also issue general flood warnings and flood advisory bulletins for river basins.
