MANILA (TO UPDATE)Tropical Depression Vicky crossed the Bohol Sea and could make landfall in the Siquijor-Negros Oriental area or the Misamis Occidental-Zamboanga del Norte area before reaching the Sulu Sea, the state meteorological office PAGASA said.

In its 2 a.m. Saturday weather bulletin, PAGASA said that Vicky was last seen at 1 a.m. approximately 30 km northwest of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gusts 70 kph while moving west northwest at 30 kph.

The meteorological office said it will likely remain a tropical depression as it passes through the country and could intensify once it hits the Western Philippine Sea.

Vicky was expected to cross the northern or central part of Palawan on Saturday afternoon or evening, and is likely to leave the area of ​​Philippine responsibility by Sunday afternoon or evening, PAGASA said.

On Saturday, heavy to intense rains were expected to prevail over the eastern Visayas, while moderate to heavy rains, sometimes intense, will fall in the southern part of Quezon, Bicol Region, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Norte , Camiguin, the northern and central portions of Palawan, including the Calamian, Cuyo and Cagayancillo islands, and the rest of the Visayas.

Meanwhile, from light to moderate with heavy rains, in the rest of Caraga, the rest of northern Mindanao, the Zamboanga peninsula, the eastern Mindoro, the rest of Quezon, Aurora, the mainland Cagayan valley, Apayao, Kalinga, mountain province, and Ifugao.

On Sunday, heavy to heavy rains will fall in the Bicol region, while moderate to heavy rains, sometimes heavy, will prevail over Quezon, Aurora, mainland Cagayan valley, Apayao, Kalinga, mountain province, Ifugao, La northern and central part of Palawan, including Calamian. and the Kalayaan Islands, eastern Mindoro, and eastern Visayas.

Meanwhile, mild to moderate with heavy rains at times, were experienced in Antique, Aklan, Metro Manila and the rest of Calabarzon and Mimaropa.

PAGASA said flooding, including flash floods, and rain-induced landslides could occur in areas identified as highly or very susceptible to these hazards during rains.

Areas under the tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS # 1) will have strong breezes until conditions close to gales, with 30-60 kph winds prevailing or predicted in 36 hours, during the passage of the tropical cyclone.

But PAGASA said there are likely gusty conditions in most of Luzon and Visayas that were not under TCWS, especially in coastal and mountainous areas, due to the increase in the northeast or amihan monsoon.

PAGASA warned sailors and seafarers that traveling in these waters is risky, especially for small vessels.
