Phoenix Super LPG welcomed the decision of the Board of Games and Amusement to reinstate Calvin Abueva’s professional license until the necessary requirements are met.

On Friday, GAB acted on Abueva’s behalf on the condition that the suspended PBA star attend a seminar on “The Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for a Professional Athlete” and undergo a mandatory drug testing procedure.

“The Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters are grateful to the Board of Games and Entertainment chaired by President Abraham Mitra and all of its commissioners for taking Calvin one step further to resume professional basketball,” Phoenix said in a statement sent by the manager. of the Paolo Bugia team.

“This step provides Calvin with an opportunity, more than anything else, to be an example to the public that, in fact, people can have the opportunity to redeem themselves and be a positive example for the basketball community,” he added .

The decision was made several days after Abueva met with GAB commissioner Eduard Trinidad last Tuesday in an attempt to secure a reinstatement ahead of the PBA’s scheduled restart on October 11 in his home province of Pampanga.

The league allowed Abueva to join the team inside Clark’s bubble, but he was only limited to playing 5v5 games on the University of Angeles Foundation campus.

Once Abueva completes the GAB terms, the focus will be on PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial if he sees fit to end a 15-month suspension that began in June 2019.

“While we still await the final decision of the PBA, we will comply with all the conditions that the Board of Games and Amusement requires of Calvin,” said Phoenix. “We would like to thank you for accommodating us despite the many limitations that the pandemic brought. They really are an important factor in Calvin’s continuing reform. “
