MANILA, Philippines – Former ONE flyweight world champion Kairat Akhmetov praised Filipino rising star Danny Kingad before their showdown at ONE: Big Bang on December 4 in Singapore.
Akhmetov admitted that Kingad, who is the second ranked contender in the flyweight class, is a “complete fighter” who is as good at hitting as he is on the ground.
“He doesn’t have many holes in his game. He is a complete fighter who can hit, fight and fight well. He always has good cardio too, ”Akhmetov said.
“But my coach and I have analyzed it a lot. We all have some weak points and I will work to exploit it when we meet. “
Akhmetov (23-2) and Kingad (14-2), 33, were supposed to meet last year in the semi-finals of the Grand Prix, but the Kazakh was forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury.
Kingad reached the final round of the tournament where he lost to Demetrious Johnson.
“Danny is a very interesting fighter with a big heart and a strong will to win. He is a very explosive and complete athlete. This fight is interesting to me because we were supposed to meet in the Grand Prix. Now, we have the opportunity to finish our business. I just have a good impression of him. He’s a really good and worthy opponent, ”said Akhmetov, who is third in the division.
“I am confident in all areas of my game. I am not just a fighter. We are ranked very high in this division, and this match is a must for all fans. The stakes are high in this one. I will do everything in my power to raise my hand that day. Everything else depends on the Almighty. “
