Flyweight Danny “The King” Kingad will face a career-changing fight when he takes on Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhmetov in ONE: BIG BANG on December 4 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Kingad is looking to redeem himself after losing to ONE World Flyweight Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes and ONE World Flyweight Grand Prix Champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.
If Kingad beats Akhmetov, he will have conquered the three men below him in the ONE Athlete Rankings, having achieved victories over (# 4) Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu and (# 5) Reece “Lightning” McLaren, making a case. solid for him to face whoever comes out on top in the future Moraes-Johnson showdown.
Akhmetov, on the other hand, is determined to show that he hasn’t missed a step, despite returning from a year off.
Initially, the pair were scheduled to meet in the semi-finals of the Grand Prix, but “The Kazakh” eventually had to withdraw due to injury. Kingad reached the final but lost to Johnson by decision in what has been the biggest game of his young career.
Also competing next Friday will be Filipino strawweight Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres; faces off against Indian wrestling star Ritu “The Indian Tigress” Phogat in the curtain of night.
In the main event, ONE world light heavyweight kickboxing champion, Roman Kryklia, will defend his world title against Murat “The Butcher” Aygun.
ONE: Big Bang will air on December 4 live on One Sports + at 8:30 p.m. and on One Sports at 9 p.m. (after PBA). The encore broadcast will be on December 5 on TV5 at 11 pm.
