ONE boss: Eduard Folayang is still ‘very fresh’ despite his age

MANILA, Philippines – ONE Championship leader Chatri Sityodtong believes Filipino fighter Eduard Folayang is still far from his final fight.

This despite critics writing off the two-time former ONE Lightweight champion due to his age and his recent fall in the Circle.

“I think Eduard is a phenomenal athlete, obviously a world champion … Wins and losses happen for all athletes,” Sityodtong said during an online showdown between Folayang and upcoming Australian opponent Antonio Caruso.

“When I look at Eduard and talk to him, I see that he is hungrier than ever,” he added.

The 35-year-old, soon to turn 36 before the year is out, has seen some recent fights including three losses in his last four fights.

But Sityodtong believes that the Baguio warrior has the strength to return, as he continually demonstrated throughout his caraeer.

“I think there were many occasions in the last few years when Eduard Folayang was dismissed by some of the haters, but the truth is that he is still very fresh, very strong, athletic and very smart,” Sityodtong said.

“I don’t think this is Eduard’s last fight and of course, it will depend on his performance against [a] Antonio Caruso very hard. It will be a very fun fight, “he added.

Folayang will collide with Australian Caruso at ONE: Into The Matrix on October 30 in Singapore in a light mixed martial arts clash.
