MANILA – San Miguel Corp said Thursday that construction of the Skyway extension project would resume on May 15, in line with government plans to ease the 2-month pandemic restrictions.
Construction is allowed under the modified ECQ or Enhanced Community Quarantine, which will run May 16-31. A new completion date for the Skyway project has yet to be identified. Before closing, San Miguel set a target for December 2020.
“The government has given us the signal to resume work on the Skyway extension, and while we are not yet in full swing, we will do our best to deliver this project as close to the original deadline as possible. We have to work smart, be efficient, and above all, keep workers safe, ”said San Miguel President and Chief Operating Officer Ramon S. Ang.
Approximately 700 meters of Lane 3 of the Skyway leveling section heading north from the old Alabang entrance plaza will be closed for at least a month due to the installation of scaffolding to build columns for Docks 34 to 39, San Miguel said.
Safety, sanitation, and other health protocols are in place even before construction work resumes. The workers will be housed at the site, he said.
