LONDON: Tom Cruise has launched a spiel laden with expletives to his colleagues on the set of his latest Mission Impossible movie, after he allegedly saw two workers who did not respect social distancing rules.
In an audio released by the tabloid Sun, the 58-year-old Hollywood star can be heard warning that anyone caught not following the rules to stay at least 2 meters (more than 6.5 feet) away from others. , will be fired.
“If I see you doing it again, you’ll be gone and if someone on this team does it, that’s it,” he is heard saying in audio recorded during filming in Britain. “That’s right. No apologies.”
During his outburst at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, which is about 30 miles (50 kilometers) north of London, Cruise cataloged the difficulties he and all members of the film industry face during the coronavirus pandemic. The timing of the outbreak was unclear, although the Sun said production on the film returned to Britain two weeks ago.
Many films have been delayed until after the pandemic has ended or due to Covid-related delays on set, including the seventh installment of the Mission Impossible franchise.
During his outburst, Cruise points out the higher costs of insuring a movie these days. He also expresses his concerns about the direct impact on families and his ability to pay the bills if the film closes.
“That’s what I sleep on every night,” he said. “Do you understand the responsibility you have?”
Cruise’s publicist did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
