MANILA, Philippines – The Office of the Ombudsman ordered the six-month pretrial suspension of Steve Dicdican, executive director and general manager of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA), on charges of allowing foreign nationals to run the airport .
Considering your position as general manager of MCIAA, and in order to prevent any possible alteration of evidence, harassment of witnesses, interference or exercise of influence by Dicdican, and / or retention or concealment of pertinent records or documents, this Office finds justification to place the defendant under preventive suspension pending the investigation of this complaint, ”said the Ombudsman, Samuel Martires, in a decision published Thursday.
According to Martires, “the recorded evidence suggests that the evidence of guilt is strong and that the charge involves gross misconduct, as well as gross negligence of duty, which would justify his retirement from service.”
He added that his permanence in office could harm the case presented against him.
“He is placed on preventive suspension for a period of six months without pay, in accordance with Section 24 of RA 6770,” he added.
