MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) removed Police Sgt. From duty on Monday. Jonel Nuezca, the suspect in the brutal murder of a mother and son in Tarlac.

At a press conference, PNP Police Chief General Debold Sinas announced the dismissal of Nuezca as an administrative sanction after shooting at his unarmed neighbors in December.

“That’s it. That completes the investigation cycle involving former Police Sergeant Jonel Nuezca,” Sinas said.

Nuezca pleaded not guilty during the January 7 arraignment, according to the head of the Paniqui municipal police station, Noriel Rombaoa.

Due to a dispute over a holiday noisemaker, Nuezca shot and killed mother and son, Sonia Gregorio, 52, and Frank Anthony Gregorio, 25, in Paniqui, Tarlac. The incident was videotaped and went viral on social media.

The attack prompted widespread condemnation, with some officials calling for reforms in the PNP and netizens pleading for the killings to stop.
