The National Telecommunications Commission on Tuesday ordered all telecommunications entities to ensure that there are sufficient technical and support staff and standby generators with extra fuel, tools and spare equipment in the areas forecast to be affected by the starter “Typhoon Ulises”.

In a memorandum Order No. 05-04-2011 signed by Commissioner Gamaliel A. Córdoba, the NTC has entrusted the country’s telecommunications companies to be prepared for the next typhoon so that they can continue to serve the telecommunications needs of the population sooner. , during and after the storm.

The NTC also ordered telecommunications companies to pre-set up mobile cell sites in affected regions, ensuring their readiness for deployment at any time. “In line with this, you are reminded of your responsibility to present reports to the Commission on the status of your respective networks and facilities,” also stated in the memorandum.

As reported today by the Philippine Astronomical, Geophysical and Atmospheric Services Administration, Typhoon Ulysses was “last sighted 250 kilometers east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.”
