THE North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation has committed to meeting the requirements of the Mayor of the City of Valenzuela, Rex Gatchalian, to lift the suspension of its business permits there.
“As indicated in our previous communications with him, we have prepared our action plans to address [traffic] concerns, “the NLEX said in its statement.
NLEX is committed to providing specific solutions to various problems that cause traffic in the city, such as “RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) stickers that wear easily, sensors that cannot read RFID stickers quickly and lack of charge.”
These problems with the NLEX’s RFID system have caused massive traffic jams in the city, prompting the mayor to suspend the highway’s license permits.
NLEX is also committed to transferring existing RFID sticker installation and account recharge at Karuhatan and Mindanao toll plazas with immediate effect to improve traffic flow in nearby areas.
“The NLEX management is one with the Valenzuela city government and other Metro Manila local government units and the Metro Manila Development Authority in taking concrete measures to alleviate heavy daily traffic congestion in the metropolis, especially as we approach the holiday season, “said NLEX.
NLEX said the full implementation of the 2020-12 Department of Transportation Order requiring cashless and contactless transactions on Dec. 1 was combined with the increase in Manila-bound travelers due to long vacations, seasonal backlog and lifting the ban on trucks. and the number encoding scheme caused inconvenience and delays, causing massive traffic jams.
“Our goal is to ensure an easier implementation of the cashless toll payment system and provide the best possible travel experience for our customers,” said the highway administration.
