Following the premiere of “It’s Showtime” and “ASAP Natin ‘To” this weekend, A2Z Channel 11 will show Knowledge Channel’s educational programs starting Monday, October 12, the management of the free channel said Saturday.
It is also a step forward for Knowledge Channel, which will now have two hours of free educational television programming.
Video lessons based on the curriculum will air Monday through Friday at A2Z from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., with dedicated time slots by grade level from grades 1 to 6.
Programming includes programs on math, science, Filipino, English, Araling Panlipunan, values, arts, and physical education.
In a statement issued to ABS-CBN News, A2Z said the video lessons have been aligned with the Most Essential Learning Competencies, or MELC, established by the Department of Education. They complement the lessons in the self-study modules and those broadcast on DepEd TV.
With A2Z School at Home powered by the Knowledge Channel, students, parents, and teachers now have more options to make distance learning possible.
Knowledge Channel can also be viewed on SKYcable, PCTA’s partner cable operators, and on GSAT. His video lessons are also available online through knowledgechannel.org.
When his network announced block time deals with the Kapamilya network and other media entities, Sherwin Tugna, president and CEO of A2Z, said that Channel 11 will provide viewers with uplifting and inspiring shows of life, love and hope, local educational programs and foreign films, some of the most beloved ABS-CBN programs, as well as programs from licensors such as Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN Asia), Knowledge Channel and others.
Some of the shows on Zoe’s Light TV 33 will also air on A2Z.
“We strive to provide Filipinos with the best kind of programming and bring glory to the Lord above,” he said.
The deputy leader of the minority of the House of Representatives and deputy of Bayan Muna Carlos Isagani Zárate and the deputy of Laguna Sol Aragones (3rd district), two of the 11 legislators who voted for the renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise, gave welcome the return to free TV of some Kapamilya shows and Knowledge shows the channel on A2Z.
“Educational programs are of great help in the learning of children that can be seen again on free TV on Channel 11,” Aragonés told ABS-CBN News.
Zárate praised the return of educational programs on free television.
“This is a good start, especially since the Knowledge broadcast on A2Z will help students who are struggling with their online and even blended classes,” said Zarate.
A2Z can be seen on Channel 11 on free television via analog broadcast in Metro Manila and nearby provinces. It will also be available on many cable and satellite televisions such as Sky Cable (Channel 11).
