Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) said a 17-year-old girl who arrived from the United Kingdom (United Kingdom) on December 6, 2020, tested positive for the new strain of Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus. . disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Following the detection of the new strain, Singapore’s Multi-Ministerial Task Force announced travel restrictions effective December 23.
All long-term pass holders and short-term visitors with a recent travel history to the UK within the past 14 days will not be allowed to enter Singapore or transit through Singapore.
Returning citizens and permanent residents will need to undergo a PCR test upon arrival in Singapore, at the beginning of their 14-day stay-at-home notice (SHN).
In a statement, the Health Ministry said the 17-year-old girl had been studying in the UK since August 2020. She returned to Singapore on December 6 and underwent self-quarantine at a specialized SHN facility upon arrival.
She developed a fever the next day and it was confirmed that she contracted the virus on December 8.
The Health Ministry said all of his close contacts had been quarantined and tested negative for the virus at the end of their quarantine period.
“As she had been isolated upon arrival in Singapore, we were able to surround this case so that there was no further transmission of her,” said the Ministry of Health.
The girl was the only one who carried the B117 strain among 31 cases of infection imported from Europe between November 17 and December 17.
As of December 24, MINSA said there were no new cases of locally transmitted infection.
