NBA Playoffs: The Lakers will play the Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals after the Clippers collapse

The stage was set for a historic Western Conference final series between the Lakers and Clippers, two teams that have shared the city of Los Angeles for the past 35 years, but have never met in the postseason, let alone in a end of conference.

However, the Denver Nuggets had different plans and sent the Clippers packing Tuesday night after falling behind in the 3-1 Western Conference semifinals. The Nuggets will now play the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals for the third time in NBA history.

Here’s the full breakdown of the show:

Game 1: Friday, September 18 at 6 pm on TNT

Game 2: Sunday, September 20 at 4:30 pm on TNT

Game 3: Tuesday, September 22 at 6 pm on TNT

Game 4 (if necessary): Thursday, September 24 at 6 pm on TNT

Game 5 (if necessary): Saturday, September 26 at 6 pm on TNT

Game 6 (if necessary): Monday, September 28 on TNT

Game 7 (if necessary): Wednesday, September 30 on TNT

The last time the Lakers and Nuggets played in the Western Conference Finals was in 2009. The Lakers won that series in six games behind a dominant stretch of games by Kobe Bryant, who averaged 34 points per game.

The only other time the Lakers and Nuggets met in the Western Conference Finals was in 1985. The Lakers won that series in five games.

The Lakers are hoping for a similar result this season, but the Nuggets didn’t get their place in the Western Conference Finals by accident. On Tuesday, the Nuggets became the first to come back from a 3-1 deficit twice in the postseason. They are a very talented young fighting team and those kinds of teams can create all kinds of problems for a veteran team like the Lakers.

With that said, the Lakers have been on an absolute streak in the postseason and have shown no signs of slowing down. Suffice to say, this one should be fun.
