DISCARDED is Joshua Munzon when Manila ChooksTM crashed at the Fiba 3×3 World Tour Doha Masters 2020 early Saturday (Manila time).

Munzon gave it his all for the team, but it wasn’t enough as the Filipinos were winless in Qatar and failed to make the playoffs.

“There are no excuses,” Munzon said when Manila suffered a tough 15-22 loss to no. 1 Liman of Serbia ahead of a shocking 14-19 loss to local team Lusail.

Fil-Am’s point guard was actually the second-highest scorer in the group stage, carrying the torch for the Philippine team with his total of 17 points.

However, the Filipinos simply had a hard time in Group A, overwhelmed by the experience of Stefan Stojacic’s Liman before failing to find the answers to the huge list of Souley Ndour and Ousseynou Mbow of Lusail, both from Senegal, and the imported one. Greek Kostas Vasileiadis.

Munzon had another chance to rescue the Manila Chooks trip, but he fell within a basket of reaching the two-point final and only had four marks.

It was a bitter campaign for the Philippine team, who were hoping to replicate their success last year when Pasig de Munzon finished fifth and Alvin Pasaol Balanga finished sixth.

Manila Chooks’ departure means the 3×3 season is over for the Filipinos, falling short of the $ 40,000 cash prize for the champion, as well as their bid to qualify for the 2020 Fiba 3×3 World Tour Final in Jeddah in December.
