‘Mourning!’ indictment in PBA reference loud and clear to live TV audience

PERHAPS the beauty of the PBA Philippines Cup being played without fans is that viewers on TV and online can clearly hear almost everything being said on the court, from coaches yelling instructions to players cheering on their teammates of equipment from the bench.

It also has a disadvantage, since apparently thousands of spectators can even hear the complaints of the players to the referees.

That was exactly what happened in Game Three of the semi-final series between Barangay Geneva and Meralco on Sunday night when an unidentified player yelled something directed at the referees early in the fourth quarter.

The words, “Ref, lutong mourning ‘to ah”, were clearly heard by a live audience, although what is unclear is who shouted that accusation.
