Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 27) – Mother and son Sonya and Frank Anthony Gregorio were laid to rest on Sunday, a week after their neighbor, police officer Jonel Nuezca, fatally shot them.
The two were interred at the Garden of Angels Memorial Park in the Tarlac town of Paniqui, with their family and friends gathered for a final hearing.
The police officer faces two counts of murder as a result of the viral incident on December 20, which has prompted cries for justice across the country and calls for police reforms. Both the Department of the Interior and the Human Rights Commission have launched an investigation into the case.
