Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 20) – More than 200 private companies have voiced support for the nation’s acquisition of additional AstraZeneca vaccines for COVID-19, Presidential Advisor for Entrepreneurship and Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepción said Sunday.

In a statement, Concepción said that more companies are already “expressing their commitment and interest” in the sector’s initiative, after the announcement of the second batch approved by the British pharmaceutical company.

“When they told me that, the number of calls and inquiries from the private sector was increasing. Although we expected it in some way, we are happy that more and more partners from the private sector are taking part in this initiative that ends the war against COVID-19, “said Concepción.

Among the companies expected to contribute are Ayala Corporation, which confirmed 400,000 doses, and Palawan Pawnshop, which ordered 100,000 doses, among others.

Last week, Concepción confirmed that AstraZeneca approved the private sector request for a second batch of vaccines, which will add to the 2.6 million doses previously obtained through a donation of ₱ 600 million.

Concepción previously said that the sector will aim to secure around five million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine in total.
