MANILA, Philippines – The government already has money to buy COVID-19 vaccines once they are available, but it is not enough.
“I already have the money for the vaccine, but I will still have to look for more money because you know that now there are 130 million Filipinos. And for me, ideally, everyone should get the vaccine, without exception, ”Duterte said in a prerecorded speech Wednesday.
The president reiterated his promise to give priority to vaccinating poor Filipinos enrolled in the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, or 4P.
On Wednesday, the Philippines recorded an additional 1,910 cases of COVID-19, bringing its cumulative infection count to 346,539. Of the total cases, 293,860 have recovered and 6,449 have died.
