The new iPhone SE was finally announced yesterday, and features the latest A13 chip and a high-quality single rear lens. But as always, Apple doesn’t reveal the entire spec sheet.
Instead, we have to turn to operator sites, or wait for reviews to drop. In this case, China Telecom reports that the new iPhone SE features 3 GB of RAM and houses an 1821 mAH battery.
With 3GB of RAM, this means it has slightly less RAM than the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro series. The flagship phones boast 4GB of RAM respectively. Often the biggest memory problem for iPhones users is the Camera app. Since the iPhone SE only has a rear camera, the 1GB less RAM may not be as noticeable in practice.
Apple’s official line on battery life is that the iPhone SE ‘lasts almost as long as the iPhone 8’. China Telecom’s specifications establish a battery capacity of 1821 mAH. This aligns as the iPhone 8 also features the same 1821 mAh capacity battery.
The Apple website says this battery capacity translates to up to 13 hours of video playback and up to 8 hours of video streaming. In comparison, the iPhone 11’s battery boasts 10 hours of streaming and 17 hours of offline video playback.
All told, the new iPhone SE should provide roughly the same battery life as the original iPhone SE. Except now you get an extra .7-inch screen space and a faster processor to use in the same hours of use.
China Telecom’s specification sheets are usually accurate, although we may want to wait to confirm these numbers definitively.
You can order the iPhone SE starting Friday, and the first deliveries will ship next week. The iPhone SE is priced at $ 399 for a 64GB configuration, $ 449 for 128GB, and $ 499 for the higher-capacity 256GB model.
