MANILA – Carousell has released its “year in review” for 2020, and the shopping platform noted that more Filipinos have become more conscientious when it comes to Christmas gifts.

Citing research by the Kantar Profiles Network, Carousell said that 80% of Filipinos are open to giving and receiving gifts used for this year’s holidays.

He went on to mention top Filipino searches in the shopping market, which include “branded” mobile devices like iPhones and Samsung smartphones, and video game consoles like PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

Many Carousell users were also looking for the most affordable deals on fashion brands, from Zara to Louis Vuitton, and laptops from Apple and Asus.

Second-hand cars from brands like BMW and Toyota were also popular searches on the platform.

“We understand the need for Filipinos to take in the spirit of gift-giving this season,” Raffy Montemayor, general manager of Carousell Philippines, said in a statement.

He went on to acknowledge that “the current situation dictates that we be more cost-conscious,” and said they want to provide “an online avenue to buy thoughtful and practical gifts” this Christmas.
